Choosing your windows

At Renoviso, we install Harvey products in four different styles:

Classic: The Classic double hung window is the brand's most popular option. If you’re looking for a durable and beautiful window in a variety of colors and options at an affordable price, then look no further than the Classic vinyl window. The Classic offers five interior color options (including two woodgrain options) and 28 exterior color options. It comes standard with welded frame sashes and a cam lock that’s color matched (white, almond & bronze) with two premium finishes available (brushed nickel & oil-rubbed bronze). The Classic exceeds Energy Star requirements. That means you’ll save money and reduce greenhouse gas emissions while insulating your home against the elements.

SlimLine: If you’re looking for a no frills white window at a great value without compromising on thermal performance, the Slimline is the window for you. As the name suggests, the Slimline has a slimmer profile. Some homeowners prefer the slightly slimmer sash and frame for maximizing their view, particularly for smaller openings. The Slimline also comes in a single hung for a bit more cost savings.

Tribute: The Tribute is Harvey Industries’ premium vinyl window. The Tribute line showcases upgraded features including a better lock, better screen, and optional hardware options included Compared to the Classic, the Tribute window has a contoured sash and glazing bead to provide a more sleek design that emulates traditional look of wood window. It comes with a dual action lock that eliminates the need for separate tilt latches and optional integral or applied lift handles for even more sophistication. The standard screen is the VIEWS screen, which offers 50% more natural light and visibility than the fiberglass mesh screen included with the Classic.

Majesty: The Majesty wood double hung window combines the authenticity of wood on the interior with a maintenance free aluminum clad exterior. Homeowners can choose a Majesty window when they want a high aesthetic factor with their windows.

Common window types

As a shopper speaking with multiple window companies, you’ll also need a bit of knowledge on different window types. Here’s a quick breakdown of common terms:

Bay: Bay windows have three windows set into an angled frame. Bay windows project outward from your home adding space and a feeling of volume.

Bow: Bow windows have four or more custom curved windows that create a circular outcropping in the home. You’ll most often see bow windows in older homes, like a Victorian style home for example, but they really can be adapted for any room.

Casement: Casement windows have hinges on the side and open out to either side. They provide top-to-bottom ventilation in a similar way as an open door does.

Double Hung: Double hung windows are the most popular style among homeowners these days. The top or bottom sash can both be raised or lowered and both windows typically tilt in for easy cleaning and maintenance of exterior glass.

Single Hung: With single hung windows, only the bottom sash can be raised, while the upper remains stationery. Many budget-conscious consumers tend to enjoy the great value of single hung windows as they come in at a lower price point than double hung.

Sliding: Sliding windows open horizontally and provide a more contemporary look. These types of windows open with a sash sliding left to right, or right to left.

Picture: Picture windows are fixed and do not open. They are typically used in combination with other window styles. If you want an unobstructed view, this is the window choice.

Why you should replace your windows

There’s a long list of reasons you may be here shopping for new construction or replacements. Here are some of the most common:

You want an aesthetic upgrade: If they’ve never been replaced, your home’s current windows could be woefully out-of-style. New ones can significantly accentuate or define the character of your home. If you don’t think you’ll notice, ask yourself: how many times a day do you see or use your windows?

You want more light in your home: A set of new windows can change the energy and light within any room. Bring added sunlight to a particularly dark space, or upgrade to a massive bay window in your living room.

You want a more energy-efficient space: One of the best reasons to upgrade your windows is the positive effect on your heating and cooling bills. Many old windows are single pane or have broken seals and there is a tangible difference in energy efficiency by upgrading to new double pane or triple pane windows. Energy efficient double pane windows reduce energy loss by 30% to 50% over single pane windows.

You want a more secure home: A window that does not lock or close properly is a threat to your safety, from burglars, predators, and weather. Your home windows should keep you and your belongings secure.

You want a working window: Opening and closing your windows should not be a difficult task. Whether it is a casement window or a double hung, the parts and pieces should operate correctly. If you find yourself struggling to simply open your window and having it stay open, you are due for an upgrade.

You want a quiet home: Reducing street noise is a common reason customers visit our site. There are wide ranges of noise issues that could be happening. With cars zooming by, neighbors yelling, and planes overhead your home needs to be quiet and peaceful, especially at night. A set of new windows will keep the outside noise where it belongs… outside.

You want a clean home: Older windows can be difficult to clean without a ladder and very long arms. Modern double hung windows have hinges that swing inwards that make a quick wipe down a breeze.

You want your home to sell fast: Listing your house for sale soon? According to the National Association of Realtors, window replacement projects can return homeowners more than 78% of the project costs upon resale.

The installation process

After you’ve submitted your window project through our website, you’ll be contacted by our customer operations team to schedule a no-obligation consultation with a Renoviso certified installer. The installer will confirm your measurements and talk you through any questions you might have. He will also note the condition of your window and point out any structural or weather concerns From there, a final quote is delivered and an installation date is set. Depending on the size of your job, the actual work should take no longer than 1 or 2 days. That’s how quickly your gorgeous new products will be installed!

Our installers will take the necessary precautions to protect your valuables and furniture as they begin to work. They will remove the old window and clean the opening to ensure no structural damage or rotting. After they are installed, the installer tests the window to confirm everything works properly. All hinges, latches, locks and sliders should function without issue. Lastly, trim is added to provide a tight seal against weathering and rot. The installer will leave your home in the same condition that they arrived, but now you have gorgeous new windows!

Finding the right installer

We urge you to not settle when it comes to your window project. There are uninsured, uncertified, inexperienced, and just plain bad installers out there who will try to earn your business. You want to work with someone who you trust, who is professional, and who is not just out for their own bottom line.

At Renoviso, we hand select our certified, insured installers and they come with an average of 15 years experience. A replacement window project can be tricky, so we only utilize contractors who have expertise in this brand and come with 5-star reviews. They will take extreme care in removing, replacing, and installing so your home looks perfect. Plus, they’ll treat your home and the job site with respect.

We encourage you to shop around on Renoviso and build your dream project from scratch. You’ll have your choice of style, material, and color. If you don’t know where to begin or you’re having trouble deciding, please give us a call and we’ll be happy to assist you.

To determine which type of vinyl windows are in your home, you must locate the warranty label on your window.

How do I clean my windows?

A simple soap solution with clean water and mild detergent, or a standard commercial household glass cleaning product, should be applied to a grit free cloth or sponge to gently clean glass surfaces. It is recommended to remove any excess cleaning solution with clean water, and use a squeegee or lint free dry cloth to remove any excess water from the glass.
